Product: Scenario-Built Wheelchair
Scientific Description
Our prototype wheelchair has enlarged back wheels, and skis in the front, both of which are to be used in order to make travel in snow and ice easier. The rear wheels, which will still be powered by hand, are much wider than a normal wheel, so therefore, they can roll over snow, instead of sinking into it. This is because the force of the wheelchair is dispersed over much more ground in order to keep it from sinking, the same concept is used for the skis. The skis are mainly there to stabilize the chair, and allow it to move forwards much easier than having another set of wheels to rotate. For the issue of ice, the wheels have studs in them in order to grip onto the ice, while at the same time, not tearing up the snow, defeating the purpose of the widened wheels.
